What is a webhook?
A webhook is a private web address (a URL) that starts a workflow as soon as something sends data to it. Each Auto Appy workflow that starts with the Webhook trigger gets its own address, which looks like this:
https://api.autoappy.com/workflows/execute/7b59a919-85b3-42ee-ab84-6c61757e27361A webhook is a private web address (a URL) that belongs to one workflow. Anything that can send data to a URL can start that workflow.
2A parent fills in the enquiry form on vidyacoaching.in and clicks Send.
3The form sends the answers to your workflow's webhook URL.
4Auto Appy receives them and starts the workflow at once, with the answers ready for every step.
5No checking every few minutes and no waiting: the moment something happens, your workflow knows.
The doorbell analogy
Section titled “The doorbell analogy”Imagine waiting for a parcel. You could walk to the gate every five minutes to check (that’s called polling), or you could install a doorbell and get on with your day. A webhook is a doorbell: the other app “rings” your workflow’s address the moment something happens, and the workflow starts.
What can send a webhook?
Section titled “What can send a webhook?”Almost anything:
- the form on your website or landing page,
- form tools such as Google Forms (via a script), Typeform, Tally, Jotform, Elementor or WordPress plugins,
- payment, booking and e-commerce apps that offer “webhook” settings,
- a QR code that opens a link,
- your own code.
Each field the sender includes, such as name or phone, becomes data you can use in the workflow’s steps.
Send your first webhook
Section titled “Send your first webhook”Replace the address with your workflow’s own Your Webhook URL from the trigger’s Setup tab.
