Connecting an app
To add a row to Vidya Coaching’s enquiry sheet or send an email from its Gmail, Auto Appy needs Neha’s permission. You give it once, and Auto Appy saves it as a connection (also called a saved account) that all your workflows can use.
1To work inside another app, Auto Appy needs your permission. You give it once, and it's saved as a connection.
2In Auto Appy, pick the app (here, Google Sheets) and click Connect.
3The app's own sign-in window opens. You sign in there, so Auto Appy never sees your password.
4Google lists what Auto Appy is asking to do. You click Allow.
5Google hands Auto Appy a secure pass, saved as your connection. Every workflow can use it, and you can remove it any time.
The three ways apps connect
Section titled “The three ways apps connect”| Type | What you do | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Sign in and Allow (OAuth) | Click Connect, sign in on the app’s own page, click Allow. | Google Sheets, Gmail, Google Drive, many others |
| API key | Copy a key from the other app’s settings and paste it into Auto Appy. | Auto Appy WhatsApp, Auto Appy CRM, many SaaS tools |
| No account needed | Nothing. | Webhook, Schedule, Delay, Formatter and other built-in tools |
Sign in and Allow
Section titled “Sign in and Allow”This is the safest and most common way. The sign-in happens on the other app’s website (for example accounts.google.com), so Auto Appy never sees your password. The app shows exactly what Auto Appy is asking to do. When you click Allow, it gives Auto Appy a secure pass that only works for those permissions.
API key
Section titled “API key”An API key is a long secret code that another app generates for you. It works like a password made for apps. Create it in the other app, give it a clear name, and paste it into Auto Appy. If you ever want to cut off access, delete the key in that app.
What gets saved, and who can use it
Section titled “What gets saved, and who can use it”- The connection is saved under a name you choose, such as “Sales Gmail”.
- Credentials stay hidden. Nobody can view them again in Auto Appy, including you; you can only replace them.
- Only the workflow’s owner chooses which connection a step uses.
- One connection can be used by many workflows. Update it once and every workflow uses the new details.
Taking access away
Section titled “Taking access away”You can remove a connection at any time in Settings → App connections. To be completely sure, also remove Auto Appy’s access in the other app (for Google, that’s Google Account → Security → Third-party access).
